24 Hour BP Monitor

Ambulatory Blood pressure recording

24 Hour BP Monitor

Ambulatory Blood pressure recording is used to capture blood pressure readings throughout the day (active) and night (at rest). This allows the doctor to review the readings and provide appropriate advice to manage your blood pressure. The monitor will record at 30 minute intervals from 6am till 10pm, and then 60 minute intervals from 10pm to 6am.

The monitor takes approximately 15 minutes to be fitted by our nurse and at that time the process will be explained to you.  The cuff is applied to your non dominant arm and the monitor is stored in a case that is attached to a belt and worn around your waist.  Loose fitting clothes are recommended to cover the equipment if desired.

The monitor will beep as it about to measure your Blood Pressure and will pump up quite tightly; you are asked to have your arm fairly straight to assist with the reading, if it is unsafe for you to do so then ignore the monitor as it will have another attempt in approximately 5 minutes.

Your safety is more important.

The monitor is to be worn during all daily activities however you are unable to shower/bath whilst the monitor is on, so please shower before your fitting appointment.

Costs involved for fitting of the monitor.

The cost of the fitting of the monitor and for the production of the report is $80.00  (This is not Medicare rebate able.)  Once the monitor has been removed and the report generated then the Nurses will ask that you arrange a follow up appointment with the Doctor.  This consultation allows the Doctor to sit with you and explain the results from your 24hr monitoring.  This also allows you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have in relation to this.  The cost of this follow up consultation will be either $80.00 or $125.00.  This consultation will be rebate-able through Medicare.
